Do

What we choose to do on a daily basis greatly impacts our wellbeing. Modern life often comes with too much stress, tension and inertia. This can in turn trigger additional acid residue that depletes the body of essential nutrients. By incorporating stress-busting lifestyle practices, you promote and restore vitality, wellness and happiness.

The Power Of Daily Rituals & Routines

While chronological age is fixed according to the date on your birth certificate, you also have a functional age—the age at which your body functions—and this metric of age is variable. Your functional age fluctuates based on your ratio of essential nutrients to toxic matter, and on your habits of daily living. What you do on a daily basis then, directly plays into your functional age. As an adult you may explore until you find resources and practices that resonate with you to renew your body, mind, and spirit. Once found, stay long with those practices and habits. Most of us have a few minutes a day to dedicate to our wellbeing. Devoting time to nurturing yourself and making yourself a priority pays invaluable dividends. Wellness Promoting Activities To Try:

Mindfulness Practice

Begin a mindfulness practice, be it formal (Vipassana or Zen) with a teacher, or informal, for example taking time to engage in simple activities such as gardening, photography or art while observing what is around you, putting the phone away and focusing on the task at hand. As Guru Ram Dass says – Be Here Now.

Movement

Movement

A great place to start is by adding a daily stretch, a brisk walk and simply getting up to move about for a few minutes each hour. Once you are ready to add in more, try Yoga, Tai Chi Chuan or Aikido. My suggestion is to pick one and practice it for three or more months. Perseverance furthers, as is often advised in the I Ching.

Gratitude Journal

Gratitude Journal

Each night before bed, write down 5 things from the day that you are grateful for. Whether it’s seeing a hawk or having a fulfilling meal… it doesn’t matter how big or how small. After a few weeks of this practice you may notice that you have a more positive outlook overall. Consider Ira Progoff’s intensive journal.

Sleep Ritual

Sleep Ritual

Restorative sleep is one of the most important things for your health. Create an evening ritual that includes a salt and soda bath. During your soak, do five minutes of slow, deep, abdominal breathing and then 15 minutes of relaxation or active meditation.
